HEALTH FACILITIES
Apart from the District Capital that accommodates the District Hospital, the rest of ten health facilities of varied statuses in the District are fairly distributed over the District. These include Public Clinics/Health Centres; CHPS Compounds, RCH.
There are only four Medical Doctors and a few Medical Assistants in the District with an apparent shortage of other medical support staffs. The major diseases in the District are malaria, bilharzias, whooping cough, and diarrhoea. Until recently Surveillance on HIV/AIDS in the Krachi West District has not been wide-ranging but limited to a few basic statistics from the District Hospital which is not readily available or not readily provided by the District Health Administration. Though there is a Voluntary Testing and Counselling Centre in the District, current data in this field are not handy.
